Another strong year in national legal guide with further lawyers recognised in ‘leading individual’ and ‘rising star’ categories

07 October 2021

The 2022 edition of The Legal 500 – an independent guide to the best lawyers and firms nationwide – has recognised exceptional lawyers at Cheltenham-based Willans LLP, ahead of its 75th anniversary year.

Results released online have listed 27 outstanding recommendations at the firm, including new and coveted rankings for ‘leading individual’ Chris Wills and ‘rising star’ Emma Thompson.

Several lawyers have also retained their Legal 500 rankings from 2021, with the elite ‘leading lawyers’ list naming dispute resolution partner Paul Gordon, employment law partner Matthew Clayton and commercial property partner Nigel Whittaker.

In the ‘rising stars’ category, employment law senior associate solicitor Jenny Hawrot and dispute resolution partner Nick Southwell have also retained their accolades for a second year.

Ranked for 11 specialisms in total, Willans LLP has been recognised as a leading firm across the South West region, with its employment law team securing a top tier spot for an impressive fifth year in a row.

Also recommended across the South West region, which includes Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire, are the firm’s remaining specialist teams: corporate & commercial, commercial property, litigation & dispute resolution, inheritance & trusts disputes, agriculture & estates, charities & not-for-profit, wills, trusts & probate, family law, property litigation and intellectual property.

Managing partner Bridget Redmond said:

“We’re delighted with this year’s outstanding Legal 500 results, which are an exceptional achievement for a firm of our size. I’m extremely proud of the teams and individuals named, all of whom deserve such prestigious recognition.

“Given that the Legal 500 rankings take client feedback into consideration, this is a clear indicator that our lawyers are not only first-class in terms of expertise, but also in their ability to give our clients the exceptional personalised service they expect.”

The Legal 500 is an independent guide to the world’s best law firms. Its results are based on a combination of client feedback, assessment by experienced legal researchers and interviews. Read the results at www.legal500.com.
