New Year promotions mark the start of Willans’ 75th year

12 January 2022

A series of senior promotions have been awarded to Willans lawyers as the firm prepares to celebrate its 75th year in business.

Family lawyer Jonathan Eager and employment law specialist Jenny Hawrot are both promoted to partner, bringing our partner count to 18. Described as “hands on and responsive”, Jonathan was once again ranked in the top tier of independent legal guide, Chambers UK, while Jenny was recognised as a ‘rising star’ for the second year running in The Legal 500 2022 guide.

Further promotions include residential property lawyer Hilary Banister and trusts specialist Tom O’Riordan, who are now senior associate solicitors, while lawyers Charlotte Brunsdon, Jennifer Cockett, James Melvin-Bath and Emma Thompson are promoted to associate solicitors and chartered legal executive Susie Jones to associate.

The senior promotions follow another year of growth for Willans in 2021, as well as a series of new arrivals, including partner Rishi Ladwa, who joined our corporate & commercial team in September. Legal 500-ranked partner Adam Hale also took over as head of our ‘reputable’ agriculture & estates department in December.

Commenting on the good news, our managing partner Bridget Redmond said: “After another strong year, I’m delighted to congratulate these excellent lawyers on their well-deserved promotions. Those who have been promoted embody our commitment to providing the highest level of legal expertise alongside a truly personal service; it’s a pleasure to recognise these individuals for their hard work and dedication.”

Willans was founded 75 years ago by Gloucestershire lawyer Alec Willans, who later moved the firm to its current home in Imperial Square, Cheltenham. Today, Willans employs around 100 people and plans to celebrate its 75th anniversary throughout the year.
