Willans lawyers set the bar with outstanding results in Chambers UK and The Legal 500

22 October 2021

Over the past fortnight, outstanding lawyers and departments from Willans have been recognised in the 2022 editions of independent legal guides, Chambers UK and The Legal 500.

Known globally as leading providers of legal insight and analysis, the guides both release rankings on the UK’s top lawyers and firms on an annual basis.

Willans has retained a top-tier ranking for its “approachable and communicative” family law team in this year’s Chambers UK guide for the seventh time, as well as five additional department rankings. These include the agriculture & rural affairs, wills, trusts & probate, corporate, dispute resolution and commercial property teams.

There were also eight individual lawyers recommended in the Chambers UK 2022 guide, including “clear and understandable” family law partner Sharon Giles and “very hands on and responsive” family lawyer Jonathan Eager, who were both recognised in the top tier. Commercial property lawyer Charlotte Brunsdon was also recognised as an ‘associate to watch’ for the first time.

The rankings follow the recognition of both Simon Cook and Paul Gordon in the prestigious Chambers High Net Worth guide, released earlier this year.

Earlier this month, The Legal 500 guide also listed 27 outstanding recommendations at the firm, including elite ‘leading lawyers,’ dispute resolution partner Paul Gordon, employment law partner Matthew Clayton and commercial property partner Nigel Whittaker, as well as new and coveted rankings for ‘leading individual’ Chris Wills and ‘rising star’ Emma Thompson.

Managing partner Bridget Redmond said: “This year’s Chambers UK and Legal 500 results are an outstanding achievement for a firm of our size. I’m extremely proud of the teams and individuals named, all of whom deserve such prestigious recognition.”

“2021 has been a challenging time for many and given that the rankings consider client feedback, these results show that our lawyers are not only first-class in terms of expertise, but also in their ability to give our clients the exceptional care and service they expect.”

Chambers and Partners is an independent research company operating across 200 jurisdictions delivering detailed rankings and insight into the world’s leading lawyers. The company conducts tens of thousands of interviews a year with in-house counsel and third-party experts, such as barristers and accountants, delivering detailed insight into providers of legal services.

The Legal 500 is an independent guide to the world’s best law firms. Its results are based on a combination of client feedback, assessment by experienced legal researchers and interviews.
